Just saw that Raymond James has increased it's target on MMX by .15 to $2.25 which is only about a 7% increase. Not sure if it's because they are that bearish on gold or if they really feel that there is only a slight upside to the new portfolio (combination of both maybe?)...
RJ was/is on the low side of analyst's price targets for this stock, so I'll be very interested to see what the others have to say in the coming days/weeks...
I do know this however. When I was playing Pan American back in the day and Burns was the CEO (Now chairman at MMX) he tended to have a very, very conservative outlook when it came to forward guidance, with an almost a "Under promise and over deliver" mentality that resulted in some very nice surprises over the years and am betting that MMX will be run with the same philosophy...
The Newmont portfolio consists of 54 royalty streams and I'm trying my darnedest to figure out what's all in there and what the potential is, especially on some of the exploration pieces of the puzzle. Remember that this is Newmont, so (and I'm only guessing at this point) I'm thinking that there will not be too many dogs in this package. That and the fact that Newmont will own a considerable chunk of MMX after this deal closes, so its in their best interest that MMX does well...
