You're not a deeply analytical person are you? You're more like geo in that you just love to complain.

"Botched"  is going through with a project that -fully analyzed- no longer makes sense but proceeding anyway. 

Whereas intelligent and rational decision-making means to make changes that no longer fit the greater good of the company upon further analysis.
