In addition the complaining over the cancelled sale of assets in California is not the disaster many seem to believe. When you want to sell something, and the buyer is not there at your price, you have to change your mind. They have many more assets to sell AFTER the aquisition is final.
I don't think it was ever a good idea to sell asets to fund the acquisition prior to the deal getting approval. Too much risk. If they had sold assets and the deal did not go through they would have had to find other investments to buy and lose out on months of cash flow.
The approach they are taking, selling after the deal closes is much better. And they have the funding to taking their time to get a good price for the assets. No fire sale needed. Patience.
