RE:RE:Keep your head when all about you are losing theirs..Burning through a pile of cash will expedite a final solution for the Voting Trust, which should be a blessing for all shareholders who have hung on. The Voting Trust is risk averse and will not pile on debt to pursue a strategy they have neither the brains nor the intestinal fortitude to see through to the end.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Toronto Star being purchased by the five trustees of the Atkinson Charitable Foundation. This would be a fitting time to bid farewell and pass the enterprise over to someone with the deep pockets and thoughtful leadership to protect this media company. Fairfax has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to newspapers and would bring some sanity to the lunatic asylum headquartered at One Yonge Street. It can't happen soon enough.
