Canopy buying HIKU is a beautiful outcome for WMDCanopy doesn't actually want to do anything with HIKU. HIKU is a nothing company. What are they doing right now? Nothing. They can't brand or sell ANYTHING. And when they do want to sell something they need to buy cannabis from actual producers.
Canopy produces and as we all know can't and won't be able to get enough cannabis come rec time. Canopy can throw together "branding" and retail companies at the drop of a hat. So WHY did Canopy adopt a hostile and bold approach towards HIKU and WMD? Is HIKU REALLY that valuable? No. And if you believe it is then you should buy HIKU at opening bell tomorrow. (don't if you like money)
Canopy bought HIKU in an attempt to soften leverage of both HIKU and WMD. They want WMD but they KNOW had they had gone to WMD first they would have had to pay a serious premium. WMD is a producer and has been selling cannabis to patients and other LPs (including Canopy) for over a year.
This move by Canopy is going to backfire and give them the opposite outcome. They overpaid for HIKU, paid 10 million to WMD for nothing and now the street is about to run up WMD because Canopy has unwittingly announced WMD is their target.
You will all see what this move means to people who are paying attention. The HIKU WMD merger has been an anchor on WMD and Canopy just pulled the anchor, set WMD sails and paid them 10 mil for the privledge.
Also, Canopy/HIKU deal will not go through and someone will get canned at Canopy for pumping WMD hahaha
