Announcement from the Chair of Metrolinx Board of Directors

TORONTO: July 12, 2018 – Robert Prichard announced today that he has resigned as Chair of the Board of Directors of Metrolinx effective immediately. Mr. Bryan Davies, Vice Chair of the Board, will assume the duties and authority of Chair pending the appointment of a new Chair of the Board by the provincial government.

Prichard said: “Serving Metrolinx for the past nine years, first as President and CEO and then as Chair of the Board of Directors for seven years, has ranked with the great privileges of my life. It has allowed me to give back to the city, region and province where I have lived and worked virtually my entire life. We have made remarkable progress over the past nine years in planning, building and operating transit for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area as a result of the outstanding work of the employees, management and board of Metrolinx, combined with stellar support from the province and strong collaboration with our 31 municipal partners. Much has been accomplished, but a great deal of work lies ahead to achieve the full promise and possibilities for mobility in the region following our Regional Transportation Plan. With the election of a new government for Ontario, now is the right time for a change of leadership for the Board of Directors. The next Chair will need to lead the board in its partnership with the management team and work closely with the government on its priorities for continuing to deliver the transit infrastructure and services the region needs. As Vice Chair, Bryan Davies will provide for a seamless transition in board leadership and oversight of the wide range of ongoing activities at Metrolinx.”

Minister of Transportation Hon. John Yakabuski wrote to Mr. Prichard: “On behalf of the Government of Ontario, I would like to thank you for your years of service as Chair as well as your time as President and Chief Executive Officer of Metrolinx. Since your appointment in 2010 you have demonstrated a tireless commitment to helping deliver better transit across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. I offer my best wishes for your continued success in the future.”
