Investors failed to conduct proper due diligence

Investors failed to conduct proper due diligenceThe more I read about Lydian saga, the more the picture emerges of investors all around showing complete complacency and believing whatever Lydian threw at them, without bothering to have independent assessments,  like ostriches hiding their head in the sand refusing to notice all red flags staring at them and burning holes. It is mind-boggling, and I am afraid doesn't show them in good light. Obviously, research  takes money and effort, nevertheless, that's a responsibility fund managers have promised their ultimate investors, and they basically have failed at that by throwing the money that doesn't belong to them into waste.

Lydian, on the other side, emerges as a sleazy entity throwing a bone here and there to mellow and buy agreement along the way throughout years, operating in a country where officials were incompetent and uncaring and in many cases dishonest, in essence mirroring, in fact,  what Lydian represents.
