There was one silver lining to the short attack. The shorters had to pay the distributions, which means Crius didn't have to. Likely saved them a substantial amount of cash. 


How would that work? Crius doesn’t know who’s short. They know how many shares are issued. They don’t know who has them past Computershare. Computershare will record the new purchaser as the shareholder of record, and he will get his dividend. The LENDER will get stiffed, so the shorter  gets to pay a dividend to HIM. Crius saves nothing.
