But what most do not recognize is that Awaruite is a unique nickel product that does not require smelting. So the 30% taken off the top by smelters processing sulfide nickel ores does not apply to FPX.
Viewed another way, sulfide nickel mines would need a nicke price of $6 / .7 = $8.57 per pound to compare to the $6 per pound used in the latest FPX resource estimate.
For price netbacks, Awaruite is a far better product than nickel sulfides.
