Update on QP
Update on QPSo I have been in touch with the Securities Commission and have a little better understanding of the QP and what is required to act in a jurisdiction: The following is a basic but reasonable oultine of the QP and their ability to provide services to the company in Nova Scotia:
- QP must have an apporpriate degree (geosciences, metallurgy, mine engineering, etc)
- they must have appropriate experience (5 yrs was referenced in my discussion, but is discretionary to an extent)
- while a QP is not explicitly required by the exchange or the Securities Commission to be registered within the Provinical jurisdiction in question, they must be registered in Canada,
- the Provincial Association or Board of mining / geological engineers does require that the individual be registered in the province and are free to challenger the QP if performing services in the province, without being registered and that is an issue.
The above adherence to the 43-101 requirements is self-assessed, but not self-adjudicated if/when challenged. The company QP, if not registered in Nova Scotia, either should do so or should withhold their services within the jurisdiction, which is what I understand is currently happening and why the company is in search of a new QP.
I hope this helps.
Salut - Leigh McBain.
