Help me out here

A company, or its spokesmen, or its boosters make statements with timeframes that do not come to pass. If someone points out these failures, they are dismissed as trolls and bashers.
So, if you are correct, you are to be villified. But if you make promises you can't keep, well, that's OK.
Am I missing something? Is this world of junior explorers an alternate universe where bad is good, up is down, etc.?
