Actually that's not entirely true, while the energy consumption does change based on the binary (on/off) usage of energy, the system is designed to manage the way the compressor cycles so it does actually improve the efficiency of the overall "system" - that's where the patented alogrythm comes into play. Splitting hairs a little, but there is more to this than just monitoring temperature and time of day and turning it on and off. Or at least that's the case for the ESM and ECO3 products - I don't believe that changes for the ECOhome.
