U.S. Broker Charles Schwab put KL in top 3%

U.S. Broker Charles Schwab put KL in top 3%Kirkland Lake is rated "A" as a strong buy, on the basis of improved earnings quality.

Every weekend, Schwab rates over 3,000 stocks, and thousands more international stocks.  The ratings are for a buy and hold one year time horizon.  I  understand many here are short term traders.  Schwab's top and bottom 5% are A's and F's.  The next 25% are B's and D's, and the middle 40% are C's.  Over nearly 20 years, the A's consistently beat the B's, which beat the C's, and so on, over 52 week periods.  I'd argue that a one year horizon is tougher than a short term grade.  Grades change weekly, but you might not sell unless it dropped to a D or F, which would take a major event.

Most brokerages issue way more Strong buys, buys, and a few holds.  They don't issue any or many sells, so their recommendations are not honest.  Schwab's are uniquely honest, and they work.

Kirkland Lake & Gold Resources are the lone A rated miners. GORO is at the 1st percentile, KL is at the 3rd percentile, Newmont, at the 14th percentile is ranked "B", but it was an A not long ago.

One of the most challenging parts of the economic cycle for Schwab's ratings is right after the cycle bottoms.  At that point, some very inexpensive "D" rated stocks whose very survival was in doubt can see large percentage gains.  Qwest, now Century Link was an example.  Others would be airlines.

It's something to consider.
