Airbus is smart

Airbus is smartPeople keep on complaining that Airbus has no interest in seeing the C Series (oups, sorry A220!) succeed because it will increase the market value of the JV! This is just as much nonsense as refusing a salary increase from the boss in fear that you will lose money if he does not pay you!

What I see Airbus not being interested to is to give away A220s which could not be produced before 3 or 4 years.  Lots of BBD clients (past and future) are still trying to play the fire sale game with Airbus.  Cseries and A220s have been sold real cheap so far but this has to stop.  And since we are far away from running dry on production lines, might as well play difficult now on prices rather than panicking and begging for orders in a couple of years.

In the last couple of years, we have fatten the orders book, now let's build up the financial books and start to make good money from the sales.  It is a good strategy to improve margins by cutting costs but selling at reasonable prices also does the trick.

Way the GO Airbus.  Let's be patient, we are just starting to smell the money!!
