The Federal Court of Appeal ruled Thursday that Ottawa must resubmit the Trans Mountain project to the National Energy Board for review, quashing approval for the project and putting its future at risk.

First Nations, including the Tsleil-Waututh and Squamish Nation, argued Ottawa did not adequately consult them before the National Energy Board review or the cabinet decision to approve the project. In its ruling Thursday, the court agreed.

Environmental groups and the cities of Vancouver and Burnaby also challenged the project in federal court last fall with the support of the province.

The federal government argued it conducted extensive consultations.

More coming

I wonder how much of an extra delay this ruling is going to end up adding in regards to the completion date of the project.

The last update in early August already pushed the completion date back from Dec 2020 to Dec 2021, with an additional $1.9B in costs....

It is NEVER getting built at this point! All is for not!
