Asteroid Fever

Asteroid FeverHi everyone,
Since it’s a quite long weekend I thought I’d throw this one out there. It has a Bob Watchorn connection and is part of the Pilbara story too.

With all the reading and researching NVO and the Pilbara one of the things about it all that intrigues me the most is the asteroid connection. So using Google Earth (GE) I began looking at the Pilbara for signs of impact formations on the surface.

This led me to Bob Watchorn. Bob’s work got me more interested in asteroids connection to earth’s geological formation/evolution as a whole. So I started using (GE) to look at more of the earth’s surface in search of these Giant Ring Structures. I found was it was difficult with basic GE to see these structures on the land. However when I started looking at the ocean bottom I noticed that some structures are very clear. As I examined some of this ocean bottom structure I began to see (IMO) clear ring formations that looked much like the images of impact sites on land from Bob’s work.

Then I looked at Hawaii. It looked to me like it had all the hallmarks of an impact site, a massive impact site. As I looked closer I noticed lines on the ocean floor radiating out from the middle of the Island chain in virtually all directions and for thousands of miles. The first thing that came to mind was some of the craters on the moon and how they had the same type of lines radiating out from the impact site. I did some side by side comparisons and they look almost identical. So I looked around the earth at the ocean bottom using GE and I began finding lots of cool stuff.

Then I got to thinking…If Hawaii was created by an asteroid impact and it’s one of the earth’s hot spots/mantle plumes/calderas what about the other hot spots/mantle plumes/calderas. So I started looking at Yellowstone Park and Iceland and…anyway it looked like a possible explanation (IMO).
At this point I couldn’t resist running it all by Bob so I did…

xxxx following up from previous emails a couple of days ago.
Ever since I read your work and watched your video I have been staring at and analyzing the globe using Google Earth (GE). Actually the way I discovered your work was the result of looking at the Pilbara on (GE) and searching for outlines/evidence of ancient asteroid impacts. I saw what appeared to be two distinctive circular structures present on the desert landscape in the Pilbara and drew some circles. I followed up with Google searches like “Pilbara asteroid impacts” and variations of, looking for verification. Sure enough I found links to your work and hence my emails to you.
Well since our correspondence I have been scanning the globe with (GE) and I have noticed another very interesting structure I wanted to run by you, the Hawaiian Islands. If I look at them from space using (GE) I see the unmistakable (IMO) signature of an impact of some kind. There are lines on the sea floor that radiate out in almost all directions from the center (more or less) of the island chain. I have compared the lines on the sea floor to similar lines that radiate out from the center of impact sights on the moon and they look very similar (if not identical).
 It would seem to me (a layman) that the sea floor may have characteristics that preserve the lines that radiate out from the center of these impact sights, but seems to obscure the GRS more than on land (although distinctive circles can be seen around the impact sight in Hawaii). I can see several other possible under sea impact sights around the globe including near Australia that have the same characteristics. The more I look the more I see.
However the Hawaiian sight is one of the most compelling. Its lines radiate out for thousands of miles in each direction. The asteroid must have been huge. That may explain the formation of this “Hot Spot” on the Earth’s crust. The fact that Hawaii sits on a very fast moving plate may help explain its longevity as an active volcanic system (just a guess). All of this is pure speculation on my part of course Bob and I know you are a very busy fellow, but I thought if you had a moment you could take a peak on GE or with your satellite imagery and let me know what you think.
I have done a few Google searches for things like “Hawaiian Island asteroid strike” and “Did an asteroid create the Hawaiian Islands”. I get one or two people theorizing the possibility, but no one is looking at the sea floor structures as far as I can tell. Of course it’s also very possible you’re already all over this one, I wouldn’t be surprised. Also French Polynesia and Yellowstone Park look like good candidates.
Again I know you are very busy with your research so I understand if this is a bit too distracting, however if it tickles your curiosity I would love to know what you think.

Great minds think alike!!
About a year ago i had a quick look at the Hawaiian islands. I had noticed that the Australian platye had rings right across to NZ and that maybe there was a 'whirlpool affect as the plate move across the mantle. Hawaii is a small scale of this. I found that there are ring structures and a 5000 km long structure either side of the Hawaiian islands hotspot that looks like the wave of a stick or prow of a boat going through the water. the GE image has swirly foam like line trending NW on the north and to the west on the south side.
I'll send the image and see how it compares with yours. 
You are probably right about there being an impact that started it all. The surface expression of the impact should be back in Eastern Siberia - i couldn't find it but the template (lower part of the original impact that moves along with the mantle below the crust) should still be under the oceanic crust. If it's an impact then the rings should be most prominent and the radial features should be secondary. What you have described sounds more like a plume which is a huge hot spot.
Yes I've looked at the American NW and noticed YNP and other rings over the goldfields. Another one to do a paper on when I find time.
A good source of data is the GOCE Satellite gravity and other satellite gravity and magnetic data. Just put those above expressions into Google and select images at the top and they'll get you to the site. To enhance the images cut the image from using snipping tool and then drop it onto powerpoint and use the Artisitic functions to make it clearer. I explained this in YC #2 2017on my website. You'll be amazed at what comes up.

So I’m really fired up now and I’m up late trying to find where the Hawaii asteroid impact site might be now up in Siberia (as the impact site’s surface impression would have moved with the Pacific Plate). And I think I sort of found it, maybe. LOL. Anyway it is circled on the GE file I uploaded.

Interestingly most of the structures on the bottom of the ocean seem to tell a story of past impacts (except for plate outlines/arcs and rifting). Some structure looks like one clear impact that hit the earth on a ninety degree angle (straight on). Others look glancing, depositing silt and scaring the bottom in the direction of travel for hundreds or even thousands of miles. One thing that looks very clear to me is that these “asteroids impacts” usually appear in clusters, sometimes very large clusters indicating these asteroids almost always broke up on entry. Many are overlapping so it’s hard to tell which ones happened together but the direction of travel can give some clues. Many were huge by the looks of things.

Obviously not all impacts are equal. Some asteroids are composed of rock and minerals and some are almost pure iron. Then we have comets that are ice and dirt and would break up faster and leave less scaring on the bottom of the sea. Then we have to account for size, angle of impact and where it hits.

Now this is all crazy speculation on my part (all of it) but perhaps the earth’s hot spots or some of them were created by very large iron asteroids hitting the earth in tender spots ( like Iceland on a plate boundary) at near a 90 degree angle. Rare events I would think.  And I wonder if asteroids could do that to the earth what else could they do.

Could asteroids have started/created the subduction zones and the earth’s plate fault boundries? Could asteroids have caused mantle turnover? Did the earth’s water come from comets? Did part of the ingredients for life come to earth this way? Are asteroid impacts like inter stellar sex? (each place of origin has its own DNA)
 
Anyway I thought this might interest some here. Bob has given instructions in his email on how to use some cool sounding tools with GE.  I haven’t tried them yet but I will soon. I won’t post on this topic here anymore unless I get some earth shattering news. I would love to hear people’s feedback  and or physiological reviews though. All in good fun. :-)
