OK…amugsgame…see if you can follow this logic.

  • Air Canada bought Aeroplan 1.0
  • Aimia was in the process of re-inventing Aeroplan 1.0 into Aeroplan 2.0
  • Air Canada aborted that take-off.
  • Air Canada is perfectly happy buying Aeroplan 1.0 which you describe as "a piece of cr@p".
  • The flushing sounds are those of the gold plated toilet with Air Canada's cash.
  • Aimia will continue developing Aeroplan 2.0 (under a new name) without Air Canada and with a vision of the future of loyalty programs.
  • Air Canada had an opportunity to partner (with equity) with Aimia in a re-invented Aeroplan 2.0
  • But...
  • Air Canada chose to fly solo.

Bon voyage Air Canada!

Amugsgame…go short…you will make the longs very happy…you may have to pull out some money from under your mattress.

The deal with Air Canada was "shagadelic"!

So let me get this right. AP, which you ranted about like it was a priceless crown jewel has now morphed into a piece of cr@p. That type of (il)logiclal thought is generally referred to as sour grapes. If you use these kind of mental gymnastics when investing then perhaps keeping your money under a mattress may prove to be a safer bet.
