Had a relative that was part of this rush (Klondike), never met him but do have one nugget he brought back.

You had to risk you life and maybe have 10% chance of success, likely get frostbite and fight off grizzly bears.

Today you can wear your slippers click a few buttons, spend the same amount of real dollars buying stock for potential upside and have better than a 50% chance of success.  And not even swing a pick once.  What a deal!!

Beta Hunt is Richer than the Comstock's first Bonanaza (Ophir), you can buy and sell stock for a few dollars in seconds.  Back then the stock excahnges had huge commisions and it might take a week to buy and weeks to get news and over half the stocks were scams (Resse River Steamboat Company stock for Eureka Nevada (it is 6 " deep and 2 feet wide) .

Just reflecting how fortunate we are today, and that by shear luck was in RNKLF before the strike, knew of the strike on Sunday and was able to more than double my position in 10 trades for $50 total of commisons this week.  And already have a $20,000+ profit.  So much easier than my great uncle had in in the Klondike.

Cheers
