RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Started a PositionBucala, I think you are somewhat right on this. Here is my question to Itafos and their response: Dear Itafos Management,How is it, with record crop production in Brazil and a Real at over 4:1 to the USD, you can only get $137US for your SSP? Also, if you are using ammonia in the process - I'm guessing to remove free phosphoric acid - why can't you use it to produce DAP? After all, DAP is going for over three times what you are getting for the SSP and according to your info. 100% imported. Thanks in advance for your answers. And their response: Hi Greg. Thanks for the note. SSP prices were unusually low in Q2 as we believe local producers over-produced in order to combat our product coming to market. Interestingly SSP prices have since rebounded nicely in Q3 and are anywhere from 20-25% higher than the Q2 price you noted. As for the ammonia consumption, we use very little N in our production process, as indicated by the 1-17-0 formula of our SSP product. Our feed ore grade of P2O5 is ~5-6% and so is too low to be able to make phosphoric acid and therefore MAP or DAP economically. At Arraias the process does not involve phos acid production. No gypsum is produced and stays in the product and is valuable (Brazil soils are calcium and sulfur deficient) Thanks, Robert Robert B.
