My thoughts...So....they finally show/describe a prototype device. Good...but not so good. Good that they produced something in the typical timeframe for a young company. But the product is wanting.
It is bulkier than a smartphone with its only REAL advantage over a cellphone is the telephoto or instant zoom functions (call them whatever you want). So how will the public perceive this device? Yes, you can see things closer-up (animals, concerts, scenery, etc.), but that benefit comes with the hassle of having to carry both your smartphone AND this bulkier device. As we know with the majority of the population - people want and buy “simple”. They really want, and will pay for, just ONE device that will fit most of their needs. So....a smartphone. Sure, they don’t have this telephoto option....yet. But who wants to carry TWO devices around. Particularly outdoors while hiking, skiing, etc.
Really, how many outdoor enthusiasts do you see carrying a large camera with them anymore, or binoculars? Only the real photo fanatics or bird watchers. I am outdoors a lot. It is bothersome enough to carry my bear spray, plus water, emergency supplies, etc. But I NEED those things! I would add a telephoto device to my carry if it was small and lightweight - but if I didn’t see a huge increase in my outdoor experience from its use - I would not carry it. Too much hassle.
Concert use, yes maybe - maybe if cellphones are totally banned - but they do have big screens now beside the stage showing exactly what is gong on anyway...
I still have my small position, and will continue to hold it to see if they can add the technology to the smartphone market. That, I believe, is where the value lies.
All in my my personal opinion.
FYI - I haven’t commented on Stockhouse in years since they have purpose subscribers to initiate and inflame - in order to keep the bullboards running. Who would visit otherwise?
