RE:RE:RE:nobody is short selling your shares And how do you know you're not in a margin account already? Is it because you didn't select that option when you signed up? You didn't notice it in the fine print of the 30 page agreement you took on when you opened it? Did you also buy acreage in the Everglades? Most brokerages default selection is a margin account - unless you opt out. That's why they do a credit check when you open an account (no point in doing a credit check if you're only capable of losing what you deposited).
A sell order is still a sell order, and no matter what the asking price - they are forced to hold the shares on the order. Tell me, if a large number of shareholders from different institutes put their held shares for a similar asking price - say around $200 - don't you think the brokage would think twice about loaning them out?
I brought this suggestion up for those who don't want their own shares being used against them, or feel that the market is being manipulated. You can do as you please - feel free to drink KoolAid instead of using your head to review this and evaluate this with a speck of critical thinking to see if the benefit of doing this far outweighs the danger and expense of it. There's plenty of motivation for people to argue against doing this, but for the love of reason - ask yourself "why would they?".
Will this stop all short sellers and all market manipulation to lower the stock prices? No, it definitely will not, but it's a little bit that can be done by anyone of us to keep from being a part of it, and perhaps as a group we can reduce it in a way that allows the company to function without us continously hearing BS like painted boulders or a civil war broke out in Australia

Read the small print ,putting in a market order way above the existing price won't keep your shares from being lent out if they are in a margin account . Then there was ( is ) death spiral financing , that was big in the 90's as some will remember was a painful trip to bankruptcy for small businesses in need of financing . But that's a story for another day !
