Weather finally improving to allow for aggressive harvestingAugust weather allowed for an early start to this year’s harvest in western Canada. However, it turned very bad and very quick in early September. For most, there hasn’t been good harvest weather since. However, starting next week there appears to be a two week window of very dry and warmer weather throughout western Canada that should allow for aggressive harvesting. Farmers are anxious to get out there. The crops’ moisture levels should be much improved as they were essentially freeze dried out in the fields. I’m glad to see this harvesting window open up. This has been far from ideal for farmers but at least this wet, cold weather will dissipate for awhile.
