Thanks for interview, Mark! As part of my ongoing coverage of Aton Resources (TSXV:AAN), please enjoy this extended quote from CEO Mark Campbell.
Mark Campbell: I believe that your readers should look at our website and corporate presentation, as both will give them a good idea of what we are doing and what we think about Rodruin and its potential.
The results we reported today are very encouraging. As we say, we believe that we are in a large mineralized system, which carries good grades and that contains high grade shoots. This is not Nobel Prize winning geology, but is indicated by the overall extensive ancient workings that are found both on the South and North ridges of Rodruin.
The geology itself is complex and we are figuring it out as we go along, but all the holes we reported stopped due to the voids were ended in mineralization, which is to be expected as that is why there are old workings there to begin with! We are following the old timers.
Peter, you are right when you say that we should have been able to get through the voids and the issue here were young hesitant drillers, who were afraid of becoming stuck. But I have run off the bad drillers and we now have good hands that have been able to figure this out. So, a combination of inexperienced drillers and problems with a rig that had been stacked for a number of years, caused our problems. But we have got those sorted out and we are drilling ahead.
Exploration is not a straight line, but we feel confident in what we have and as I say, we are figuring it out day by day and hole by hole. This is a deposit that will be proven up by the drill bit and good old-fashioned field geology. I’m not going to tell you that every hole we will drill will be 50 meters at 10gt, as that would be delusional. However, we will keep investors informed as to what we are doing and what the results are.
But it is important to remember is that it is cumulative and what we are looking for is, large bulk tonnage at an overall good grade, that can be open pit mined to begin with. Having mineralization from surface is a big plus there. We will go back and re-drill those holes at some point in the future, but for the moment, we will move along the South Ridge to confirm this mineralized system and our belief in what we have.
