I went to the Weed Store tonight

I went to the Weed Store tonightSo after work this evening I went for a visit to Nova Cannabis in South Edmonton. It was quite the experience. Thankfully it was a warmer Edmonton fall day because I stood in line for 2.5 hours, there was easily 150-200 people in front of me. I drove by on launch day and there was at least 400 people lined up.

Anyway, the store itself was great. It was clean and well presented with knowledgeable and friendly staff. They offer assistance if needed and give a quick guided tour upon entry. Well put together IMO.

They had quite a bit of assortment, or appeared to at one point of had that assortment. When I was there about 50% of product was unavailable/sold out.  Their selection was still decent though, but the prices were kinda sickening. For this reason I didn’t buy much. I picked up a couple grams of Aphria’s Subway Scientist for $10/g which is an Indica and isn’t the best but not the worst either. I also bought 3.5 grams of Canopy’s Blended Mix of Sativa for $30. It’s about the same. Both were bone dry though which was disappointing to say the least!

The way the packaging is, I kinda have a real problem with. In the day and age of carbon tax and trying to minimize our footprint, there seems to be quite a bit of waste for a minimal or maximal purchase. There has to be a better more Canadian approach to this up and coming packaging disaster IMO.

My take all in all was that the weed is selling very quickly-faster then anyone thought and no one can keep up, especially if it’s priced well and quality is there it’s literally flying off the shelves. But again..the packaging makes me sad!
