Sorry to tell you you are incorrect.  You CAN NOT go underground without the infrastructure behind you.  You require power, you require a concrete plant, you require electricity, you require water works, you require ventilation facilities, you require worker facilities (food, water, restrooms, etc.)  You cannot just mine a bunch of ore and pile it up somewhere.  This is an environmentally sensitive project.  You can't just pile a bunch of arsenic laced ore outside like a gravel pile.   And this isn't just a cave in the mountain.  It's a mine.
