RE:Brainstorming global usage of Vanadium

RE:Brainstorming global usage of Vanadium
Vanadium flow batteries are too heavy (at best, comparable to lead acid) and bulky for transportation.  Where they excel is in stationary applications smoothing out the swings between supply and demand for electricity.  As wind and solar become more widespread, flow batteries can be useful grid components.  While they have higher capital costs than other battery technologies, they store charge indefinitely and never degrade since they use reversal between two oxidation states of vanadium ions in solution.
