Digital Marketing & Communications: It’s vague, there’s no follow-up, no call to action, and a concrete marketing / promotions strategy is almost non existent. Quick example, they hosted a massive Tragically HIP concert in downtown Toronto, and not one mention in national media. No recap video, no interviews, and minuscule impressions on social media. Imagine the cost involved (not to mention the time) it took to produce that show.. and for what? No return on investment. (2). Inconsistent Messaging: CEO, Jay Wilgar mentioned on many occasions how he sees Newstrike as a “maker of brands”. I’m like, “What brand(s)?!” They have one damn brand, and it’s failing along with their sh@t marketing & communicaions approach. (3). Possible Sale: Jay Wilgar said they were exploring opportunities to sell, Up Cannabis.. their only brand. I’m sorry, but if they sell the only thing you’ve got going... then why would I invest? He devalued the company’s shares so bad when he made that mention. (4). Final thoughts: I will say this, their sales / business development team did a great job in securing the government contracts. It was the only thing that held the company above .60 a share. (5). Newstrike needs leadership, direction, creativity and an innovative approach to communication. They just don’t have it.
