Illinois ready NFL wants a cut

Illinois ready NFL wants a cut

The position of both governatorial candidates favoured sports betting to raise much needed revenue with each sport likely wanting a piece of the action

“A lot of people like to gamble and bet on sports, I don’t.” Rauner told WREXa few days before the election. “But it is here and the states that do it early will get a disproportionate amount of revenue to fund their schools and infrastructure.”

Added Pritzker, “I think it is an important thing for us to consider. And again, it has to be thought of in terms of balancing the budget and infrastructure.”

It’s clear that sports betting is on the Illinois legislature’s radar, evidenced recently by a four-hour hearing on the issuelast month. It’s nice to know the state has a new governor who will support its legalization.
