I would lean towards the former.  Little nickle mine that was up for sale hits the motherlode of gold and suddenly the stock price tanks hard after a little run.  Watch for a takeout at these low prices, as we all know (especially the bashers, otherwise they wouldn't be here) what is in the ground @ Beta Hunt, and it is a big company looking to swallow the little company and make the billions.
