"New to investing and got caught up in FGD when stock halt was placed … Is this time frame ie from MAY an extremely long period for a halt?"

FGD is not under a Halt. It has been issued a Cease Trade Order.

The majority of the time a  stock is halted when there is an imbalance or to prevent an imbalance of information regarding the company. This is done to keep everyone on a level playing field and when that information is make public to the masses, then the stock resumes trading. This by it's nature is very temporary.

A stock under a cease trade has been found for what ever reasons to not be fit to publicly trade. This by it's nature alone can be permanent if there are no available remedies or if those remedies are not enacted in an acceptable way.
