RE:RE:Doug Beattie's Comments on Upcoming FCU PFS

Hi HighROI,

Thanks for the link, and good read.

I agree with your comments, and it is very reasonable questions regarding the dike's construction.

Regarding myself, I am a geotechnical engineer, graduated from a mining school, with over 20 years of experiece in water seepage control projects, worked on the Diavik mine's 1st 2 dikes.

IMO, FCU's EPA was way under estimated the cost of building the dike.  Two major differences between Diavik and PLS are:  1st is Cutoff wall depth, PLS is much deeper than Diavik, 2nd is Diavik's Deep portion of the ground is permafrost (NO treatment required) while PLS is not.

Based on my experience, the 2.5 meter rock portion of the cutoff wall is not enough, the top of the rock is always the most porous and fractured, and causes all the seepage problems. The Diavik mine top rock portion of 5 to 20 meters was treated using Pressure Grouting Techniques.

Still have 1/4 of my FCU, and patiently waitting for the U rebounce.

Hey Tiger,

Interesting point of view and thanks for the only good response I read. I know Doug has long suspected what you are that the bedrock is likely fractured and porous. This board seems to be the same. Trying to discredit anyone who brings up reasonable points that are considered negative. I mean it is funny someone trying to pick apart his comments on the boulders when they wouldn't have a clue in the first place if this were an issue or not. Good luck I hope the U bull pays you for your patience.
