RE:How market values TorstarHi FLG,
The share price reflects the markets confidence and interests in the future of Torstar. A stock yielding 10.5% in a company with no debt and a reasonable amount of cash speaks volumes about the general sentiments around the leadership and prospects of the company.
The Voting Trust holding all of the voting shares represents the single largest impediment to the realization of the true value of the assets of Torstar. This wizened gang of incompetents controlling this company is an affront to all shareholders. A track record of hiring CEO's with no CEO experience, retaining a CFO with no CFO experience and no demonstrated abilities and lurching from one bad investment decision to another is why the shares are worth less than a dollar.
Time is not on the side of the Voting Trust. They will endure another year of deep losses in 2018 and more grim prospects for 2019. They will grow weary of the line of bafflegab from the CEO who has yet to show any signs of the mythical "transformation." Freddy Kruger will show up in January and depart in June and the circle of ineptitude will be complete. With no more rabbits to pull out of an empty hat they will concede failure and find a graceful exit via Fairfax.
