RE:Rates are near neutral What makes them cover is a clear, precise message about what it is they are doing and intend to do, spoken with a booming, unfaltering voice. Then repeat the message until no one can remember anything but that message.
I don't hate Cornhill ( I actually appreciate what he has done with ALA over the past 20 years), but I do have feelings of hate for the company beginning to pollute my mind. This company needs to get active and vocal about their own message. They are way too big a company (especially now) to be allowing without rebuttal so-called trained professionals to speak extemporaneously, recklessly, and erroneously on a public forum about why people should avoid their stock (citing everything from western Canadian geography, exposure to oil prices, the nature of your debt, dividend, etc.).
It's called self-promotion. If complete nobodies on social media and youtube can make a living off promoting themselves doing anything from how to apply mascara to video game walkthroughs, how in the hell can a multi-billion dollar company not control their own brand?
Control your message. There is a lot of good stuff here - let people know.

Of coarse this po s is one of the only stocks that goes down. High US dollar and low Canadian dollar represent big earnings for ALA. This stock is so hated it's ridiculous, hate level is approaching 100%. Can anyone out there think of one good thing to say about this company? Harris is gone? Cornpops might die of a heart attack? Their CFO should be canned day one of the new CEO stepping foot at the company. IR team should be replaced. Anyone on the board that cannot name every financial number of the company should be replaced then maybe I feel a bit better. At this moment I don't think I can name a brokerage that isn't shorting this stock right now. It look like they all are. What makes them cover?
