Shorts, why stick around?

Shorts, why stick around? Why are the shorts sticking to this like glue.  They obviously have a different concept of risk than anyone else.  At 40+ cents there is little downside, and maybe none at all.  But if you look at the upside for the longs then the shorts can get cornered. .  And the upside is there even if it is a head fake upside.  Enough people believe in the science and it is credibile enough  that even if it turned to be a sham in the long run there is still about a 99% chance of a run on the stock.  So why the shorts?  The odds are really poor for the shorts or really really good for a run on the stock.
