RE:RE:My experience trying to get a colonoscopyAs mentioned months previously I support a smaller 275 bed comunity hospital and we have had on going emails concerning scope reprocessing.
In the end I pointed out that unless they have a VP4 - which they had heard of - they can't sterilize their long flexable multichanell scopes.
In an email he stressed that indeed they used the Steris system that in his words - in brackets ('has claim to sterilization - but not widely accepted')
I asked him to indicate to me where the FDA, or Steris for that matter, had ever claimed that the Steris system they use could indeed sterilize long flexable multichanell scopes such as duodenoscopes, colonoscopes etc.
That was last March/April - never received a reply to that last email.
He had said they didn't have a VP4 and noted that 'they have had trouble gaining traction in the health care field' - or words to that effect. That is certainly true.
