Two separate companies on adjoining properties could achieve economies of scale at lower cost by sharing production facilities. Implats would not be buying IVN assets, just sharing processing facilities. This would lower IVN CapEx debt. IVN does not have a problem raising money. They already have commitments for $900 million. Their Chinese partners could also easily arrange debt financing. Going into debt is easy. It’s a question of timing, the right opportunity.
Note: Metal prices are still holding up well in the face of stock market turbulence. The real economy keeps chugging along, even as paper markets run out of steam. There is always the danger of blowback from paper to reality. For now, that doesn’t seem to be happening. And there is no law which says it must. The Crash of 87 had zero effect on the real economy. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
