Aphria Inc. APHA

Aphria, which is headquartered in Ontario, produces and sells medicinal and recreational cannabis. The company operates through retail and wholesale channels in Canada and internationally. Aphria is a main distributor of medical cannabis to Germany and has operations in over 10 countries outside of Canada. However, it does not have exposure to the U.S. CBD or THC markets due to the constraints of federal prohibition. It has some U.S. exposure through the acquisition of SweetWater, a craft brewer

No let me present you with a scenario. I sell you a car that is worth 18k for 20k but on paper - for 1k. You pay the tax off of 1k and get insurance accordingly. I get my 2k as a bonus. This is illegal. Here you get a guy who is balls deep in this company whose relatives are also employed as layers of this company buying forign dodgy hall in the wall entities with his other company and then sell them to Vic for 10 times the price (of paper - your money, the shareholders'). Andy's side company then sells shares and gives half to Vic. Did Aphria get something for this money - yes. It is not like taking an old lady's purse. But still pretty dumb scheme. Existed for ages. Especially in the stock market. Andy knows. He's a veteran. I am just surprised he did not come up with something better. Like more layered. I guess he could not wait because the crazy SP backed by pure hype and potential (imagined) earnings won't last for years. So it was a short turnaround kind of scheme. Got busted tho.
