Subterra Renewables based in Toronto endorses SHARCBest I can tell this a conglomerate of industry experts who finance, build, and/or own & operate district energy systems with a tilt toward traditional Geothermal...It sounds like they are planning to implement our tech in conjunction with their Geothermal projects that on their docket ...SHR of course is esentially geothermal but using wastewater rather than ground, and as their article linked below states:
The key difference is that the source temperature of the sewer is often higher than the ground, which translates to better efficiency in heating mode, and potentially better efficiency in cooling mode depending on how much the geothermal field heats up over the summer months. The installation costs are also significantly lower than a geothermal system on a cost per ton basis, only slightly more than a conventional heating and cooling plant.
I have no idea which potential projects this entity is involved in, if some or all are new ones to us or are projects already mentioned in prior posts for TO ...also no idea if they go beyond TO just see that is where they are based so safe to assume they are active in that region
Sewer heat recovery systems are an exciting technology in the renewable energy mix, which Subterra plans to integrate it in many of its upcoming district energy projects.
The article also discusses bureautic challenges and it seems to me they exist to combat and solve these barriers ie: developers who are marketing properties for sale don't want the burden of the extra $ up front investment and added complexities of district energy ...Subterra takes ownership of the energy systems for a win-win-WIN all around ...much like our JV with Scottish Water
