Why end up like Mussolini, hanging upside down in the main square? It looks like he probably threw the election to the best alternative from his own narrow perspective of physical survival. This way Tshisekedi and Fayulu can fight it out, instead of Kabila against everyone. Now it’s him and Tshisekedi against Fayulu. Much better odds. He gets to retire in reasonable safety, and avoids getting dragged off to a dungeon in chains. No point in pushing his luck.This could be a really opportune time for Kabila to exit with his ill gotten wealth to a more hospitable tropical destination. It’s like something out of Game of Thrones.
