Galore Creek failed due to cost overruns, not government roadblocks. CapEx was $5 billion, instead of $2 billion. All that for a low grade, high tonnage mine in the middle of absolute nowhere, with gold price plunging into the basement. So much for the accuracy of some feasibility studies. It was supposed to resuscitate the BC mining industry. So, don’t blame the government for everything that goes wrong. Sometimes it’s the Company. They had a chance to get bought out at $20 share, and turned it down. I think it fell to $2. I stopped paying attention. And yes, Donlin is in Alaska, not Canada.
Like I said, the Fraser Institute Mining Survey is compiled from very experienced mining CEOs. If you think you’re smarter than them, God bless you. So why buy into IVN? I feel lucky. There are not ANY companies out there with three great mining projects.
