Short Report

Short ReportChecking IIROC Short Report for period Jan.1 - Jan. 15. It appears that NRTH has had ~36% higher-than-usual number of short trades for the period. For past periods, as % of trades, shorts on NRTH normally run about 14.5%, but are up to 19.8% for this most recent one (837,300 shares shorted).
Despite being up a bit, it was previously below average relative to the bunch of cannabis stocks in my spreadshet. So, I don't think it means much - maybe just maturation of the investor/trader base. It's good to have some short sales outstanding, because - while it provided some some down-pressure when they sold - if it rises then it can also provide up-pressure because they need to cover. NRTH is up a bit during the same period but, surely, the 837,300 shorted shares held it back some.
Anyways, IIROC posts it's short reports here: IIROC Short Reports
They're spreadsheets, unfortunately, and unfortunately also don't tell you how many people covered shorts during a period, but they're still interesting (to some). Pre-legalization, I followed them closely looking for short squeezes that I could sell short-sell into - best I've had was a 38% gain over 7 hours by short selling ALEF into a short squeeze (late Sept). Fun. Wouldnt' do it now.
