RE:RE:Alberta family's are starving Those executive salaries are paid forth from the companies. 12 years ago I arrived and they told me my base salary was 72K. Perhaps I should have refused? The educated and uneducated go where the money is. If the educated find it too tough working outside in McMurray then so be it. The uneducated stay and work ALOT of overtime. When mama boys from out east can't leave home for 150k+ then they bring in outsiders who want that gift. Basically, Alberta companies require ppl and the tough arrive from around the world. When Oilsand companies have to go to South Africa to find workers then it says alot about young ppl outside of Alberta.
PPL go on about Trudeau, however he gave us legal pot and a place to put that hard earned money. His gift has put my family in Mexico and we are building up that nest egg in the warmth.
I used to tell the young " learn for 2 years and $200+/year is waitng for you" I shake my head when canadian boys/girls cant grasp that but some dude from a middle eastern or asan county where it is warm galdly accepts the challenge.
200k/year without overtime is still available - I dare you to go find someone that will risk.
So yeah, the companies need skilled( alive with a bit of a brain) workers and they WILL pay for them. Never has it been the fault of workers to gain wages, it is the company that choses to pay that wage first.
ok enough of a rant...sorry :)
