RE:He will also release ALL political prisoners....He did address the issue of corruption and political prisoners in his inaugural address. He’s not trying to avoid the issues. As Kazparov said, can someone who got in through corruption, act to end that corruption? Maybe the DRC got lucky. Sometimes the wrong answer still turns out to be a right answer. Maybe not the best answer, but still a right answer. Kabila would not even allow his father to be buried in DRC. The memory of his father’s failed struggle to reform Congo must hang over Felix Tshisekedi.

A smooth democratic transition of power was never in the cards. Perhaps the only choice was this outcome or a resumption of the civil war. It’s a step forward. The question is can opposition use this election as a platform to build momentum towards genuine reform?
