Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. is a Canada-based mining, development, and exploration company. The Company is focused on the mining, development and exploration of minerals and precious metals from its property interests located primarily in Africa. Its projects include The Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex, The Kipushi Project, The Platreef Project., and The Western Foreland Exploration Project. The Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex project stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, approximately 25 kilometers (km) west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 km west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi. The Kipushi mine is adjacent to the town of Kipushi in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) approximately 30 km southwest of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi. The 21 licenses in the Western Foreland cover a combined area of 1,808 square kilometers to the north, south and west of the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex.

There is a main high grade zone of 4 km x 1 km
South of that 2.5 km x 1 km
To the North two smaller zones approx. 1 km x 1 km
5hat’s a total of 8.5 km2 = 8,500,000 m2

From figure 4: 

These zones are mostly green, which is true width 4 to 6 meters. Let’s assume 5 m average.

8,500,000 m2 x 5 m = 42,500,000 cubic meters of grades ranging from 3% to > 5%.

Let’s further assume 4% average. 

Specific gravity varies between 1.5 and 4 for Kamoa. Let’s assume the lower end at 2.5 = 2500 kg/m3

42,500,000 m3 x 2500 kg/m3 x 2.205 lb/kg x 0.04 = 9.37 billion lbs copper

That’s a reasonable in situ metal value for Kamoa North. Up till now.
