RE:From LSE chat, good observation I agree John. The cost savings must be minimal. Perhaps the tax savings are more meaningful but I doubt it. I think this is more about allowing the first and possibly also second largest shareholders to acquire more shares. At the very best this is just being done to allow this, at the worst, it's about allowing them to acquire more so this company can be bought out without much fuss, probably at a bargain price too.
The two big holders can hold up to 30% on AIM without having to issue an takeover offer. In theory they could probably acquire a bit more than 30%+ each and then quickly issuing a takeover offer after that. They'd need 75% of a vote to take the company over and owning 60%+ I bet they could get another 15% to vote for it, even for a cheap price. There's a strong possibility we are going to be mugged in the near future.
