Yes with every PP they get warrants that they could exercise at some point in the future - which makes it a much better option than investing in the public market, however they do have to pour in actual money in the first place - and they did in millions. If the company goes nowhere they stand to lose it all, so even if they are getting options it wouldnt make any sense to invest money in the first place if they didnt believe in the future of the company - not to mention that their options would be worthless...
