I think they would choose to go down this route if they wanted to establish market share very quickly. Not everything is a conspiracy by the Board. It's also possible that Wall Street might give the stock a higher rating with this particular model as the cash flows are essentially more regular and more predictable. What I don't know is whether the doctors must commit to a certain minimum usage/number of tests per month.
