RE:Uptake Ruleplezenlighten: The uptick rule was also removed in the US in 2007, 8 years after the Glass Steagall act was rescinded, both opening the flood gates to market corruption and fraud. I find it interesting that the uptick rule was removed one year before the financial collapse allowing massive shorting on the way down to the lows of 2009. I further find it interesting that reinstating both the uptick rule or the Glass Steagall act were not part of the US financial reform bill post 2009. You couple these two restraints on fraudulant trading with the accellerated unrestrained use of HFT platforms (which is basically legalized front running) and you have the current cesspool we call markets today.
