I think and really hope our patents prevent many other companies from solving the problem as cheaply as we do. Credo came up with their own solution it would seem, but there might not be a lot low hanging routes and I'm pretty sure Credos solution solves the noise of Pam-4 at length issue but doesn't reduce the cable diameter as much as S7 (good for airflow and easier to install and maintain once all the cables are in). We may see some competition, but I think most cable manufacturers are just going to license S7 and Credo tech. Chip design is a brutal world because it it is very hard to make something complex, small, cheap and energy efficient all at the same time. Most companies will see what S7 does and go "man it will take a lot of cash developing better than that". Chinese reverse engineering is I think a more likely competition problem but partnering with Foxconn is a good buffet, China doesnt want to kneecap their own companies while engaging in industrial espionage.
