RE:RE:Hurry up and wait ?The way I see it, the battery industry is going to go through higher than anticipated growth for decades into the future. All of the mega battery factories coming online in the next few years are going to be huge. Huge volumes of scrap cathode foil trimmings. That’s where recyclers will have an opportunity to grow as volumes scale up exponentially. I think the big players like Panasonic, Tesla, Samsung SDI, SK Innovations, LG Chem are going to be big winners. The scrap trimmings aren’t as big as EV battery recycling by any means but it’s where the best recycling method, with the lowest costs, lowest impact on the environment, and best recovery rates will win out. We are hoping $AMY has this patented process and the take that risk on as an investor.
I think people are underestimating the importance of the success of this pilot plant. Major battery recyclers will not sign a definitive agreement or JV until they show results of a pilot plant. AMY then needs to have the recovered material tested by being made back into new battery cells to test the purity and quality assurance benchmarks for its ability to charge, hold a charge, and re-charge. Battery manufacturers will be forced to find new ways to secure supply chains of raw materials, (battery metals) as global supplies tightens with the expansion of mega factories all vying for their piece of the pie. If they don’t start recycling at their actual production factories, which they should, I believe exclusive contracts will be signed between battery manufacturers and recyclers. Similar to the contract Tesla has with Umicore, that all of Tesla’s spent batteries will be recycled through Umicore.
I think the battery market (specifically resources and battery manufacturing) will be the biggest winners out of all sectors in the stock market in the next 3-5 years. From the mines, to the battery plants, to the EVs and grid storage, to end of life recycling and repurposing, we will see the world transformed. And if the world is serious about committing to climate change (or at least aid in the environmental stress that we have put upon our planet) we should start by getting the ICE vehicles off the road. It’s a great way to boost the economy as well. The government can provide subsidies, rebates, etc. and create jobs in mining and resource sectors, as we have the natural resources, and hopefully attract investment from the battery manufacturing sector by offering tax breaks to build mega factories here in Canada and the US. Sell the idea of climate change to a capitalist by showing that there’s an excellent opportunity to make a lot of money by implementing these “green” ideas.
